Pink Ring sling

Here is a newbie baby asleep in a ring sling. This is one of the nicest features of slinging. YOu can wear your baby and then slip him/her off (this baby is not mine by the way!!) and leave asleep with your smell still close by. This was often the only way I could get Ava to sleep without me holding her as an infant was to have a sling or pouch around her! Not to mention it's a built in blanket!

Here I am holding a 1 week old on my back. This is really a nice way to carry - he is safe and I could (If I had realy wanted to) vaccum or do housework, cook or do things without worrying about baby getting in the way!

This is my favoirte carry, front -upright. YES you can hold a NEWBORN upright. I have talked with many mamas who worry about asphixiation with newborns when you carry them cradle style. I always hated carrying cradle style and liked my babies closer and upright. When you wear baby up high on your chest you hardly notice you are holding them at all - and you are totally hands free! And baby can hear your heartbeat!

Ok - look at the sling - not me - but here is another angle of the upright hold. Thanks baby Thomas for being such a good model!

A close up picture of Haleigh wearing the shirt that I made her. It turned out well - had I only secured th eseams better (serging - if my serger was not broken) she could still wear it. After the first washing the side seam fell out. I have not had time to go back and restitch with a fell or french seam to secure the seam. Below are 2 more pics of her in the top! I am making more!

My first attempt at a pattern. Not as "simplicity" as it says . Ok skimming the directions may have made it a little hard! LOL. But here is a finished top for Haleigh. I am cuting off a pair of jeans that are too short but still fit in waist and making capris with matching hem/ruffle on leg. I'll post that next. I'll also post her posing this soon!

Ring sling made with bronze rings, and beautiful retro purple sateen fabric

I tried making this reversible. Did not work exactly as I had planned. But the inner chocolate cotton lining is so soft. So I think I have figured out what went wrong. So I am going to try with another one. . . .

Here is my 2nd attempt at a very plush Complete Wrapture Swaddler!! THis is so yummy for baby! It;s just like a stocking - you place baby in and pull up over her shoulders and you ahve a complete swaddler - no wrapping, no reswaddling!! What a concept! This one is made from a really soft stretchy velour! VERY hard to sew - but I'm getting the hang of it. And the inside is a soft knit jersey. This is made for an slightly older baby. Maybe 3-4 mo. I also have one ina newobrn size. I'm getting used to the fabric and the sizing. Watch for more! I
m trying to get a picture with a baby in it. But all my babies are TOO big - so we are on a search in the house for our Big Doll baby - and when I get that pic - I'll post! That way you can get the full idea. I also make these out of fleece - but I wanted to make in a nicer fabric!
